41 Tips for Kitchen Safety & Efficiency

1) Never put any furniture inside the kitchen. Avoid putting table and chairs near the wall. Keep them away from the walls. Try to keep the distance between the counter top and the ceiling about 2 feet (60 cm).
2) Make sure that the sink is kept opposite to the cooking area. Do not keep the washing machine and refrigerator next to each other. They need to be maintained separately.
3) Kitchen cabinet should be made out of wood material only. Never make it out of steel or plastic materials.
4) Use glass material instead of stainless steel cutlery. Glass cutlery won’t rust easily and also they look very classy.
5) Always clean up your kitchen after every meal. Don’t leave food outside the kitchen. Cleaning utensils should always be washed properly before using.
6) When you cook something, add salt just before adding water. Adding salt directly when the dish is boiling will cause the taste of the food to change drastically.
7) Never throw garbage within the kitchen. Throw it outside the kitchen.
8) Never wash dishes while they’re still hot. Washing the dishes immediately after eating will spoil the flavour of the food. Wait until the dishes cool down completely before washing them.
9) Before starting the cleaning process, remove all the rubbish and dirt from around the kitchen. Remove dusts and cobwebs too. Wash the floor regularly.
10) Cooked food leftovers should be stored in an airtight container. Store them in a dry place.
11) A small amount of oil is used for frying purpose but never pour excess amount of oil over the stove. Let the oil remain in the pan till the flame goes off. Then take the pot off.
12) Sink should be filled with fresh cold water once in a week. Otherwise it might affect the health of the people living nearby.
13) Keep a regular check on the lights and fans. Replace the bulbs as soon as they go dim.
14) Avoid keeping large electrical appliances like fridge and microwave oven near the windows. These can create electromagnetic waves which could harm the health of the person residing nearby.
15) The best way to store fruits and vegetables is by keeping them in the refrigerator. Storing them in the pantry or the cupboard will reduce their quality.
16) Never use the same knife for cutting different kind of foods. Use separate knives for slicing and chopping.
17) Never eat standing at the kitchen counter. Sit at a dining table or chair to enjoy your meals.
18) Never allow anyone else to enter the kitchen without permission. Only family members are allowed to enter the kitchen.
19) Never have guests stay overnight in the kitchen. It’s quite uncomfortable to sleep in the kitchen and if any accident happens then the whole house can get affected.
20) Never use the kitchen to prepare medicines. If you have to do so, keep the medicine bottles and containers far away from the kitchen.
21) Never keep the kitchen door open. You must keep the door closed.
22) Never keep the keys of the kitchen door inside the kitchen. Keep the key with you.
23) Never keep money inside the kitchen. Keep it with you.
24) Never put the dirty clothes inside the kitchen. Keep it with you.
25) Never keep the trash inside the kitchen. Put it outside the house.
26) Never hang wet towels near the kitchen. Hang them near the bathroom.
27) Never put the shoes inside the kitchen. Keep them with you.
28) Never keep the curtains inside the kitchen. Keep them with you.
29) Never keep the pets inside the kitchen. Keep them outside the house.
30) Never keep the bedding inside the kitchen. Keep it with you.
31) Never keep any fire inside the kitchen. If there is any fire, don’t panic. Instead, call the fire department and get them to put out the fire.
32) Never keep the kitchen table near the window. Keep the table away from the kitchen.
33) Do not keep the kitchen tablecloth on the kitchen table. Keep it with you.
34) Do not keep the glass material inside the kitchen. Keep it with you.
35) Do not keep the cutlery and crockery material near the sink. Keep it with you.
36) Never leave the stove unattended. Always make sure that the gas is turned off.
37) Never leave the kitchen while it’s still hot.
38) Always clean up the kitchen after every meal.
39) Keep all the food items in the kitchen in air tight containers.
40) Keep the kitchen area well lighted.
41) Never leave the kitchen lights on even for a second.
